Almost every useful action supports another part of your account. Gathered materials become equipment or building upgrades. Stronghold production supplies combat, travel, and trade. Better equipment opens more dangerous locations. Exploration reveals new resources and challenges. Factions let specialists combine their work, while the player economy rewards survivors who recognise what others need.
A typical rhythm is to gather resources, process or craft them in your stronghold, equip or trade the results, improve your level and skills, then push into tougher fights, locations, quests, outposts, and group content. You can change direction whenever another part of the game catches your interest.

Zed City is a free-to-play, ad-free browser-based zombie survival MMORPG with no download required. Begin as a vulnerable survivor, build a productive Stronghold, scavenge and craft essential gear, fight the infected, trade in a player-driven economy, and work with other survivors in a persistent online world.

There is no fixed class or single route to victory. Your skills grow through the activities you choose, whether you become a feared Zed hunter, expert crafter, resource trader, explorer, faction specialist, or a survivor who can do a little of everything. Progress is designed for long-term play, with new goals emerging as your character, equipment, buildings, and alliances develop.

Play Zed City free — create your survivor and start playing in your browser.

Choose your own path

Zed City is an open-ended survival game rather than a fixed campaign. The activities you enjoy can become your specialization, and each path supports the wider world.

If you enjoy... Where to start
Building and production Develop your Stronghold, discover blueprints, craft equipment, and process raw materials.
Gathering and specialization Train Skills through Scavenging, mining, fishing, woodcutting, farming, and other jobs.
Zombie combat Hunt Zeds, improve your combat stats, refine your equipment, and prepare for harder enemies.
Exploration Build a vehicle, travel beyond the city through Explore, and establish Outposts.
Trading and collecting Find a niche in the City economy, compare Items, and collect equipment and Trophies.
Stories and objectives Follow Quests for narrative, useful direction, and concrete challenges.
Social and cooperative play Join a Faction, take a specialist role, and complete shared Activities.
Competition Enter PvP, raid rival strongholds, and compete for position as your survivor grows stronger.

Start your survival story

You begin with limited resources, basic abilities, and a stronghold that has room to grow. The game introduces systems gradually, so you do not need to understand everything on your first day. Follow your Quests, gather what you need for the next objective, and invest in the kind of survivor you want to become.

First destination Why it matters
Quests Clear objectives introduce the world and reward early progress.
Stronghold Your home base for training, recovery, crafting, processing, vehicles, and long-term development.
Inventory Equip weapons, armour, and tools; use supplies; and manage what you carry.
Scavenging Find essential materials while training gathering skills.
Hunting Fight Zeds for player XP and loot once your equipment and Health are ready.

Game menu

The wiki follows the main game menu so you can jump directly to the system you want to understand. Some entries only appear when they become relevant to your character.

Menu item What you use it for
Stronghold Buildings, Gym training, recovery, crafting, processing, vehicles, and home-base development.
Survivors Rescue and manage survivors who can work for you.
House Your survivor's home and its household benefits.
Outposts Capture and develop specialized bases away from the city.
Activities Cooperative operations that you lead or join.
Faction Members, shared work, storage, roles, and raids.
City Shops, services, markets, other players, and faction discovery.
Inventory Equipment, carried items, consumables, and loadout management.
Quests Optional storylines, objectives, progress tracking, and rewards.
Trophies Rare passive account bonuses and their guaranteed-claim objectives.
Hunting Find and fight Zeds for experience and loot.
Scavenge Search city locations for resources and train gathering skills.
Explore Travel outside the city by vehicle and visit more demanding locations.
Skills Review experience and bonuses across combat, gathering, and production skills.

Long-term progression

  • Level represents broad account progress and is earned through many different activities.
  • Skills improve through use, rewarding the areas in which you choose to specialize.
  • Perks are permanent bonuses purchased with Skill Points earned while leveling. Read the Perks guide before committing Skill Points.
  • Equipment changes what you can carry, gather, and fight with. Compare gear in Items and watch its durability.
  • Stronghold buildings turn raw materials into useful supplies and steadily expand your options.
  • Trade, factions, and cooperative activities allow your specialization to benefit other real players.

Core resources

Your current resource values are shown in the Information Panel.

  • Energy powers strenuous actions such as combat and Gym training.
  • Rad Immunity protects you while working in irradiated areas.
  • Morale is spent by many activities and represents mental stamina.
  • Health is lost in combat. At zero Health you become injured and must recover or heal.
  • Money is earned by selling goods and used for purchases and upgrades.
  • Zed Coin is the optional premium currency used for selected conveniences and upgrades.

Resources recover in different ways and can also be restored with appropriate items. The game shows costs and requirements before you commit to an action.

Join the community

Zed City is built around a community of survivors who trade, cooperate, compete, share strategies, and help shape the game through feedback. Join the Zed City Discord to meet players, find a faction, ask for help, and follow development updates.
