Zed City is a persistent, free-to-play browser RPG set in a zombie-infested world. Build, gather, craft, trade, fight, explore, cooperate, or specialise in the parts of survival that interest you.
Choose your own path
There is no single correct route through Zed City and no final win screen. Your progress is persistent, and you are free to move between activities or concentrate on a favourite part of the game.
| If you enjoy... | Explore |
|---|---|
| Building and production | Develop your Stronghold, craft equipment, and process raw materials. |
| Gathering and specialisation | Train Skills through Scavenging, mining, fishing, woodcutting, and other jobs. |
| Combat | Hunt Zeds, improve your combat stats, and prepare for harder opponents. |
| Exploration | Build up your vehicle, travel beyond the city through Explore, and establish Outposts. |
| Trading and collecting | Use the City economy, compare Items, and collect equipment and Trophies. |
| Stories and objectives | Follow Quests whenever you want a narrative or a concrete challenge. |
| Social and cooperative play | Join a Faction and take part in shared Activities. |
| Competition | Enter PVP when your survivor is ready. |
These paths support one another without dictating an order. Gathered materials can become equipment or upgrades; crafting can support combat or trade; exploration opens new resources and challenges; and factions let different specialisations contribute to shared goals.
The wiki follows the main game menu so you can jump directly to the system you want to understand.

Some game entries only appear when they become relevant to your character.
Progression
Progress comes from many activities rather than one required sequence:
- Level represents broad account progress. Experience is available from numerous activities.
- Skills improve through use, rewarding the areas in which you choose to specialise.
- Perks are permanent bonuses purchased with points earned while levelling. Read the Perks guide before committing points.
- Equipment changes what you can carry, gather, and fight with. Compare gear in Items and watch its durability.
- Stronghold buildings expand your options by turning resources into useful supplies, services, and upgrades.
- Trade, factions, and cooperative activities let your chosen specialisation benefit other players.
Core resources
- Energy powers strenuous actions such as combat and gym training.
- Immunity protects you while working in irradiated areas.
- Morale is spent by many activities and represents mental stamina.
- Health is lost in combat. At zero health you become injured and must recover or heal.
- Money is earned by selling goods and used for purchases and upgrades.
- Zed Coin is the optional premium currency used for selected conveniences and upgrades.
Resources recover in different ways and can also be restored with appropriate items. The game shows costs and requirements before you commit to an action.
