Your Inventory stores the weapons, armour, supplies and equipment you collect throughout Zed City. Use it to inspect items, equip gear, consume supplies and prepare your vehicle before exploring.

Finding and inspecting items

The item list includes everything in the selected storage area as well as your currently equipped gear. Select an item row to open its full details, including its description, stats, effects, condition, requirements and any traits it has.

Use the controls above the list to organize a large collection:

  • Category filters show the number of matching item stacks. Select a category again to clear the filter.
  • Search matches item names and trait names or effects.
  • Name and Weight sort the visible items. Select the active sort again to reverse its direction.
  • The list displays up to 25 item stacks per page and adds page controls when needed.

The available categories are Weapons, Armour, Resources, Ammo, Medical, Boosters, Equipment, Misc, Parts, Rigs, Furniture and Trophy. A category with no matching items is dimmed and cannot be selected.

Equipped items

Your equipped gear appears in slots at the top of the page and is also included in the item list. The eight displayed slots are:

The Combat and Armour columns are independent equipment-slot lists; rows do not indicate pairings between the two columns.

Combat Armour
Melee Head
Ranged Body
Throwable Legs
Consumable Feet

Select the green + beside an equippable item to equip it. Equipping a new item in an occupied slot returns the previous item to your personal Inventory, or to your vehicle while exploring. Items in the Throwable and Consumable slots can be equipped as stacks; the item shows the maximum allowed quantity, which is normally five unless that item defines another limit.

Select the red beside equipped gear to unequip it. Your active vehicle is managed from the Garage and cannot be unequipped here. An item with zero condition is broken and cannot be equipped.

Using consumables

The green check-mark action uses a consumable. Its label changes to match the item: food is eaten, drinks are drunk, medical items are used and packs are opened. Review the effects in the confirmation window before continuing.

Most consumables are used one at a time. Zed Packs and Survivor Caches can be opened in batches, and the result window shows the rewards received. Some consumables also start a medical, booster or mutation cooldown, which is displayed after use.

Medical consumables can occupy the Consumable equipment slot, making them available alongside your combat gear.

Inventory and vehicle cargo

Use the Inventory and Vehicle tabs to switch between your personal storage and the cargo carried by your active vehicle. The Vehicle tab is unavailable until you have a vehicle equipped. It displays the vehicle's current cargo weight and maximum capacity:

  • Green means the load is below 90% of capacity.
  • Yellow means it is at least 90% but not over capacity.
  • Red means the vehicle is overweight.

While you are in the City, select Add Item on the Vehicle tab to load an item from your Inventory. Choose the quantity in the confirmation window. Ammo and vehicle rigs cannot be placed in vehicle cargo. Use the blue dolly button to unload part or all of one item stack, or Unload Items to return all cargo to your Inventory.

When you leave the City, public items gained from scavenging, hunting and other activities are placed in your vehicle cargo. The Inventory page automatically opens the Vehicle tab because only carried items are available for use while exploring. You cannot move cargo between the vehicle and your main Inventory until you return to the City.

Actions away from the City

While exploring, you can equip gear, unequip gear, use consumables or destroy items from the Vehicle tab. Actions on items left in your main Inventory are disabled. All item actions are locked while your vehicle is traveling between locations, and are also unavailable while another player is attacking you.

Keep an eye on cargo weight before traveling. An overweight warning appears on the Inventory page and in the main navigation when your vehicle is away from the City.

Destroying items

Destruction is permanent

Destroyed items cannot be recovered. If you only need an item out of your vehicle, return to the City and unload it instead.

The red bin action is available for vehicle cargo while exploring. Choose a quantity and confirm to remove those items permanently. Items with traits or modification capacity are treated as valuable: the game shows an additional warning and a short delay before destruction can be confirmed.

Useful tips

  • Load healing items and the equipment you expect to need before leaving the City.
  • Search by a trait or trait effect when comparing modified equipment.
  • Sort vehicle cargo by Weight to find the stacks contributing most to the total load.
  • Broken equipment cannot be equipped; damaged armour can be restored through Repair Armour after that City service has been unlocked.
  • Check whether an item is equipped before trying to unload or destroy it.
  • Treat the destroy action as permanent, especially when an item has traits or modification slots.
