Main Page
Zed City is a persistent, free-to-play browser RPG set in a zombie-infested city. Build a safe and productive Stronghold, gather supplies, craft and trade equipment, fight Zeds, explore beyond the city, and work with other survivors.
What is the goal?
Zed City does not have one final win screen. Your goal is to turn a vulnerable new survivor into a capable, self-sufficient one. You choose what that means: build an efficient stronghold, master gathering and crafting skills, collect powerful equipment, complete Quests, explore dangerous locations, compete with other players, or help a Faction grow.
Progress is persistent. Almost every useful action feeds another part of your account: gathering provides materials, materials become equipment or building upgrades, better equipment opens harder content, and harder content brings better rewards.
The core gameplay loop
- Gather resources through Scavenging, Hunting, activities, and exploration.
- Use or process those resources in your Stronghold.
- Equip weapons, armour, tools, and supplies from your Inventory.
- Improve your level, Skills, perks, buildings, and equipment.
- Trade spare goods through the City and player economy.
- Push farther into tougher fights, locations, quests, outposts, and faction content.
New survivor? Start here
The game introduces systems gradually. Follow the new survivor guide and your Quests instead of trying to learn every menu at once. A good first rhythm is to gather basic materials, check what your stronghold can produce or upgrade, equip before fighting, and save enough supplies for your next objective.
| First destination | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Quests | Gives you clear objectives and introduces features in a useful order. |
| Stronghold | Your home base for training, recovery, crafting, processing, vehicles, and other buildings. |
| Inventory | Where you equip gear, use consumables, and manage what you carry. |
| Scavenging | A dependable way to find materials and train gathering skills. |
| Hunting | Combat against Zeds for experience and loot; prepare your equipment first. |
The wiki follows the main game menu so it is easy to find the matching guide. Some entries only appear when they are relevant to your character.
| Menu item | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| Stronghold | Buildings, training, recovery, crafting, processing, and home-base progression. |
| Activities | Active cooperative operations you lead or have joined. This appears when you have an activity available. |
| Faction | Your faction base, members, shared work, storage, and raids. This appears after joining a faction. |
| City | Shops, services, the market, other survivors, and faction discovery. |
| Inventory | Equipment, carried items, consumables, and loadout management. |
| Quests | Guided objectives, storylines, progress tracking, and rewards. |
| Hunting | Find and fight Zeds. |
| Scavenge | Search city locations for resources. |
| Explore | Travel outside the city by vehicle and visit more demanding locations. |
| Skills | Review your experience and bonuses in combat, gathering, and production skills. |
How progression fits together
- Level represents broad account progress and helps unlock stronghold buildings and other features. You gain experience from many activities.
- Skills improve as you perform their related actions. Higher skills improve your effectiveness and can unlock harder content.
- Perks are permanent choices bought with points earned while levelling. Read the Perks guide before committing points.
- Equipment determines what you can carry, gather, and fight with. Compare items in the Items reference and keep an eye on durability.
- Stronghold buildings turn raw materials into useful supplies and expand what your survivor can do.
- Economy and factions let your specialisation matter to other players through trade, shared production, and group objectives.
Your main resources
- Energy powers strenuous actions such as combat and gym training.
- Immunity protects you while scavenging and exploring irradiated areas.
- Morale is spent by many activities and reflects your survivor's mental stamina.
- Health is lost in combat. At zero health you become injured and must recover or heal.
- Money is earned by selling goods and is used for purchases and upgrades.
- Zed Coin is the optional premium currency used for selected conveniences and upgrades.
These resources recover or can be restored in different ways. Check the costs shown in-game before starting a long chain of actions.
